Annual Aspen Thrift Shop Art Sale, Red Brick Center of the Arts, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Thrift Shop’s ninth annual Art Sale returns this week. The Art Sale offers a chance to see and purchase some of the many beautiful, rare, valuable, and (occasionally) weird art and vintage items that are donated by the Aspen community to the shop during the year. Generous donors give the shop more art and artifacts than can ever be displayed, and the sale is an opportunity to offer these special treasures to the public all on one day.

Items include: designer clothing, bags, and shoes at great prices; vintage and antique items; collectables, jewelry, and books, as well as an array of fascinating decorative items; framed art; and vintage ephemera. Something for everyone and for every price point.

For the first time, we’re sharing our sale day with our friends at Aspen Film, which will have available for sale a number of beautiful and valuable movie posters (some signed) — a great opportunity for local art lovers and collectors to support Aspen Film.

All proceeds from the Thrift Shop Art Sale will go to the Aspen Thrift Shop’s grants to valley non-profits.

*There will be a sneak peak on Friday from 4-6 p.m. (no purchasing or reserving)

Lynn Goldsmith, Explore Booksellers, Saturday, 8 p.m.

Legendary rock & roll photographer (The Rolling Stones, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Debbie Harry) Lynn Goldsmith returns to Explore for an evening of talk about her recent U.S. Supreme Court victory and her life as a photographer of the greatest rock ‘n’ rollers of all time. She says about her book, “Music in the ’80s”: “The ’80s were a time when pop, rock, and R&B stars dared to be different. Nothing was understated, neither the fashion nor the sound. The ’80s may have been a decade of contradiction but it took us from pessimism to opportunity. This book is dedicated to the music that connects us all.”
