Machine Gun Kelly x Stephen Webster Ring Collab

Aug 20, 2023Aug 20, 2023

Pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, sloth, and now “GOSSIP.” These are Stephen Webster‘s eight deadly sins, with the latter informing the British jeweler’s new collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly.

As the brand recalls, “Machine Gun Kelly first became aware of Stephen Webster jewelry through the limited-edition collection of cocktail rings, The Seven Deadly Sins, consisting of seven rings each depicting one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Fine jewelry pieces were beyond the 20-year-old’s financial reach at the time, but nonetheless, he never forgot the impression those rings, especially the one depicting lust, made on him.”

Now, the two come together on “GOSSIP,” delivering silver or 18ct gold rings that depict a modern-day sin. The collection follows on from their first partnership, which saw MGK create an engagement ring for Megan Fox that had thorns on the inside. As he told Vogue, “The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts.”

Speaking on the project, Webster said: “I have long been toying with the idea of an eighth sin, since learning the original seven ‘sins’ were compiled as a blacklist of eight evil thoughts. When Machine Gun Kelly first came to us in 2021 and shared his enthusiasm for the 2010 ‘7DS’ collection, this only cemented my decision. With the ‘sins’ bringing us together, I am glad to collaborate to bring modernity into the fold, with the release of 21st Century sin; GOSSIP.”

With this in mind, MGK and Stephen Webster present a their first GOSSIP ring in 18 carat Single Mine Origin gold. Bold lashes of pinks, greens, and blues are laid atop the gold in enamel, while Mother of Pearl is inlaid to the fascia of the piece in the depiction of a messenger bubble. A gold piercing hooks through the back of the ring, while a spider evokes a “web of lies” that is often the way with gossipers.

The £750 sterling silver ring echoes the gold piece, but comes in a limited run of 80 units. As for the gold, just eight are to be made, costing £18,000 apiece. 10% of the sales will be donated to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Machine Gun Kelly’s Stephen Webster “GOSSIP” collaboration can be seen above, and purchased from Stephen Webster on May 30.
